Top 5 Vegan Picks My Toddler Loves

We’re on day 12 of a dairy, egg white, cashew, and peanut-free diet for my almost two-year-old after he showed sensitivities to them on lab work. Ditching all of these ingredients has thrown me for a loop when it comes to feeding him. It’s hard to balance his restrictions, his preferences and his nutrition!

Here’s what’s been working these last couple weeks:

  1. A 50/50 combo of Califia Farms Vanilla Almond Milk (for taste) + Ripple Milk (for calcium boost and soy-free/plant-based protein)
  2. Daiya Cheddar Style Shreds (for quesadillas)
  3. So Delicious Unsweetened Vanilla Dairy-Free Yogurt (If served outside of a smoothie, I sweeten with a little bit of maple syrup)
  4. Annie’s Vegan Macaroni & Cheese
  5. Vegan Donuts (check your local Whole Foods for these – I couldn’t find a link!)

Side note: all of the above picks (except for the vegan donuts) are soy-free.

I’m still in search of delicious vegan finds, so please share them below!

  1. Good luck!! My 10 month old just got diagnosed with an egg allergy and my 3 year old has a nut and coconut allergy so I totally relate. I’m feeling so uninspired to cook, especially because I also have to stay off eggs because breastfeeding, but then I have nothing to feed him. We’re hoping to introduce dairy this week (we thought he was allergic but he may not be) and I’m so excited. I heard it takes a month for the foods to clear out of their system but not sure how true that is. The biggest help for my baby’s excema was changing out the bath products and laundry producrts we use, but I’m guessing you have
probably tried that already. Good luck!!!

We’re staying away from most processed foods for him for now until we have a better handle on his allergies in case of cross contamination, etc but I have a delicious recipe for a applesauce chocolate chip cake if you want it!

  2. Hi Arielle, thanks so much for dropping a note! We saw an allergist who actually confirmed with a skin test that he is not allergic to the things that his lab work tested as positive. So the search for what is causing his excema continues. Dietary restrictions while breastfeeding is so tough, Iā€™m sure! Hang in there, and I hope your little one ends up being okay with dairy. šŸ˜Š Good luck!
